Special Feature

To develop the management capacity of the entrepreneur INSOL provides training modules. These have changed from the original Family Enterprise Development Modules to become one day stand alone training seminars under INSOL’s brand name of Enterprise Advantage. It consists of 36 modules of varying categories in developing management capacity series such as: Personal Management Series, Managing Finance Series, Managing Markets Series, Managing Operations Series and Managing People Series.

These seminars are developed in the local language with content appropriate to the micro entrepreneur.

INSOL staffs undergo a training of trainers for each module and must carry a certificate to facilitate the modules. Modules are developed complete with a work book, a facilitator’s training plan and several video clips demonstrating the concepts in the reality of the Philippines market place showing people and experiences familiar to the entrepreneurs to promote their discussion and learning.

Vision

To see micro entrepreneurs transacting their business with confidence, their enterprises will no longer be vulnerable to market peaks, influences of middlemen, and lacking resources, now being able to grasp opportunities through the many options available to them through their membership in an INSOL Enterprise Center.

History

Inspired by the development of micro credit by Professor Mohammud Yunus of Grameen bank in Bangladesh, micro-credit was established in the Philippines in 1989. A Grameen replication called “Ahon sa Hirap Inc.” began lending small loans to women for income generating activities.

As the institution grew, a special group of these poor women began to emerge, they stood out, displaying characteristics others did not, these were the true entrepreneurs, and they saw enterprise as their route to a new life, their family’s future, so they worked to reach the dream for themselves.

But lacking in confidence, management skills, marketing experience and technology their enterprises struggled, often falling prey to the oppressive tactics of opportunistic traders and businessmen.

The women however had their determination on their side, while some quit, others kept working, but the lucky few only reached success.
ASHI contracted the services of training consultant with experience in developing management training programs, to address the problem of their lack of knowledge in an effort to increase the success ratio. Read More...
